Staging
การพยากรณ์โรคที่สำคัญของผู้ป่วยมะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่คือ
ระยะของโรคที่เป็น
(Surgical-pathological Staging)
ซึ่งมีอยู่หลายระบบด้วยกัน
ระบบที่นิยมใช้มากที่สุดในปัจจุบันคือ
Dukes’ Classification และ TNM Classification9
Basic Dukes’ System
ปี ค.ศ. 1932
ประกอบด้วย
Dukes’ A
มะเร็งอยู่ที่ผนังลำไส้ใหญ่เท่านั้น
Dukes’ B
มะเร็งลุกลามทะลุผนังสำไส้ใหญ่
Dukes’ C
มะเร็งลุกลามไปถึงต่อมน้ำเหลืองข้างเคียง
นอกจากนี้ในกรณีที่มีการแพร่กระจายของมะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่ไปสู่อวัยวะอื่น
ๆ แล้ว
เรียกว่า
Dukes’D
